WHY JOIN NAAB?
Communication
Over the years, NAAB has evolved and it has also become a network of independent appraisers, representatives from archival institutions, professional archivists from across Canada, recent and future graduates from information science, history and archives programs, as well as stakeholders and leaders within the Canadian archival system. Moving forward, we will keep in touch with members in a variety of ways – regular circulars, fact sheets, website, e-newsletter, social media and blog posts, plus an annual report.
Professional Development
We will offer a range of training opportunities, including an annual general meeting, specialized workshops, entry level and advanced level webinars and hands-on practical courses. Tools and other supports are also being developed and maintained on an ongoing basis.
Networking
Be connected to the Canadian community for archival monetary appraisal services and knowledge. Our events and listserv promote information exchange between colleagues working in archival institutions and the heritage field; provide skills and knowledge sharing and discussion about current issues.
Advocacy
We provide advocacy support and development of standards for monetary appraisal services, to support donations of archival records to Canadian cultural institutions, on the national, provincial and local levels.
